Dougherty County Busted Mugshots: What They Show
A booking photograph is taken when someone is processed into custody. The paperwork built around that moment becomes the booking record. In Dougherty County, the arrest itself can come from many directions. Albany Police, county police, the sheriff's office, Georgia State Patrol, campus police, probation officers, or a multi-agency team may all make the stop. Booking usually happens at the Dougherty County Jail, run by the Sheriff's Office.
The jail mainly holds people before trial. So a current roster card can mean several things. The person might be waiting for a first appearance, held for another agency, or working through a release condition. Custody status also changes quickly.
For anyone believed to be in local custody now, the DCSO current-inmate catalog is the best first stop. A card may include an image when one exists. Still, a live listing is not a court docket. Nor is it a complete Dougherty County mugshot archive. Someone booked and released may drop off the list, even though the booking packet still sits with the custodian.
Keep those numbers in perspective. The jail's stated capacity is not a tally of fresh arrests. A city map is not an arrest ranking. A retention schedule promises nothing about whether a specific photo will ever be released. For a current answer on any of this, the originating office is the source that counts.
Dougherty Booking Record Fields
The DCSO Police-to-Citizen catalog can put a range of fields on an inmate card. The exact display varies. A field the jail software supports may sit empty on any given record. Treat what you see as a custody snapshot, nothing more. The charge shown is simply what the system carried at intake, not the final word from a courtroom.
| Field | What it may show |
|---|---|
| Name and identity | Full name, age, sex, race, height, weight, and other descriptors that help distinguish people with similar names. |
| Booking photo | An official identification image created during custody, when an image is present in the card. |
| Arrest and booking dates | The dates recorded for the arrest and intake. They can help place a card in time but do not create a guaranteed recent-booking window. |
| Charge or statute | Primary charge text, statute language, and related charge detail when populated. These are booking charges. |
| Agencies and facility | Arresting agency, booking agency, holding facility, and sometimes the agency that brought the person into the jail. |
| Bond | A total bond or release condition shown by the jail system. Bond is not a fine and does not alone prove that release is available. |
| Physical and alert notes | Scars, marks, tattoos, alerts, and other physical traits when the record exposes them. |
| Court detail | The application can support court dates and charge detail, but those fields may be blank and are not a substitute for the clerk's docket. |
The line between jail data and court data matters more than most people expect. Georgia Rule 140-2-.04 sketches the intake chain. The custodial agency collects fingerprints, descriptions, photographs, and identifying details. It then passes the arrest information along toward prosecutors and the courts. A name and a photo identify a booking. But they say little about what happened after the first appearance.
A missing card can mean release, transfer, a spelling difference, a correction, an access restriction, or plain system lag. It does not prove the arrest never happened. A card that stays visible only proves the catalog still lists the person.
Request Dougherty Booking Photos
Did someone get booked and released? Or does a card no longer appear? Send a focused request to the Dougherty County Sheriff's Office. The published jail open-records address is DCJF@dougherty.ga.us. Ask specifically for the booking record and the booking or identification photograph. A request for an arrest report alone may not signal that the image is part of what you want.

One wrinkle is worth knowing. The Sheriff's contact page and facility narrative list different ZIP codes for the Evelyn Avenue address. The contact-page ZIP is used here for correspondence. Call first to confirm the mailing detail before sending paper. Also ask for a cost estimate, since the office publishes no booking-photo price list or counter schedule for every division.
- Identify the person by full name, approximate booking date, and any known booking or case number. A narrow date range makes the search easier.
- Ask for an electronic copy of the existing Dougherty County Jail booking record and booking or identification photograph under the Georgia Open Records Act.
- Ask the office to identify any withheld part by the specific statutory exemption and to provide a cost estimate before charges are incurred.
- Keep the response, redactions, and production date. If the answer concerns the court result rather than the jail file, move to the clerk's case search.
| Request point | Georgia rule described in the research |
|---|---|
| Initial response | Ordinarily within three business days, or a written response with timing, cost, and exemptions if production cannot occur then. |
| Search labor | Reasonable search, retrieval, and administrative labor based on the lowest-paid qualified full-time employee, with the first fifteen minutes free. |
| Paper copies | Uniform paper copies may not exceed $0.25 per page. Electronic access and the most economical method should be used when practicable. |
| Photo cost | No DCSO photo-specific fee was verified. Wait for the custodian's estimate rather than promising a price. |
Georgia's open-records request guidance lays out the response deadlines and cost framework that apply when DCSO cannot produce a request right away.
State rules set the request framework. They do not promise that every booking photograph is public or still on file. Juvenile information, medical details, victim data, sealed or restricted material, and investigative exemptions can all limit access. Ask for the exact exemption and the releasable portion rather than assuming a blank answer means the file no longer exists.
Georgia Mugshot Law and Removal
Georgia's Open Records Act, O.C.G.A. §§ 50-18-70 through 50-18-77, opens with broad access to government records, photographs included, yet it carries exemptions and production rules of its own. Booking-photo questions have to be read against those restrictions. The shorthand claim that every mugshot is automatically public simply does not hold, and the state request guidance linked in the records section spells out why.
O.C.G.A. § 35-1-19 takes aim at commercial publication of booking photographs. Subject to statutory exceptions, an arresting agency may not post a booking photo on a website, and may not hand one over when the intended publisher demands payment or other consideration to remove it. Requesters may need to affirm compliance. Note the limit: this restricts agency posting and supply, not private pages generally, and it sets no universal takedown deadline.
A booking card, news item, or third-party listing captures the arrest stage only. Before drawing any conclusion about a case, pull the correct Dougherty court docket and read the signed disposition.
Georgia retired the word expungement. The official term is now record restriction. Arrests after July 1, 2013 usually begin with the prosecutor. Older arrests use a three-section form routed to the arresting agency and the prosecutor. Agencies may charge up to $50. GCIC collects $25 by certified payment when an approved form cannot reach it electronically. Two to three weeks is typical for a complete application, and eligibility always turns on the details of the case.
Restriction is not destruction. Court files, agency copies, and private copies can all survive it. Sealing the court file is a separate step under O.C.G.A. § 35-3-37(m). There, the person asks the originating court to weigh privacy harm against public interest. Start with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation restriction information and the Georgia Courts record-restriction resources for eligibility answers.
Private mugshot sites follow their own rules. State restriction does not bind them. RecentlyBooked offers a free review for records it flags as dismissed, restricted, wrong-person, juvenile, duplicate, incorrect, or outdated. Mugshots.com runs its own free update process for qualifying restricted material. Busted Newspaper posts a free documentation form. Arrests.org and Mugshots.zone publish no clear local removal policy. None of them promises a Dougherty County copy comes down. Never pay a removal operator. Never treat payment as a change to an official record. Once a source page truly changes or vanishes, Google's Refresh Outdated Content tool can clear a stale search result, though it cannot touch a live page.
Juvenile files stay confidential under O.C.G.A. § 15-11-704, except where statute or a court order says otherwise. Adult booking access grants no right to hunt for a child's image. A correction request, a court restriction, a publisher's free review, and a search-engine refresh are four separate tools with four different results.
Find Dougherty County Busted Mugshots
Start with custody status, because it decides the source. Someone just booked may still be moving through intake. Someone held locally shows up in the current DCSO catalog. Someone released needs a records request. A sentenced state prisoner belongs in the Georgia Department of Corrections search. Federal or immigration custody runs through separate systems entirely.
- Search the DCSO current-inmate catalog with the available name criteria. Compare age, physical descriptors, arrest or booking date, and arresting agency.
- If the arrest was very recent, allow for intake processing and call Jail Intake at 229-430-6531 for a current-custody question. The county publishes no refresh interval.
- If the person was booked and released, email DCJF@dougherty.ga.us with the name, date, identifier, booking sheet request, and photo request.
- For what happened after booking, use the Dougherty clerk case search or Albany Municipal Court route. A calendar entry is not a disposition.
- For a sentenced state offender, use the GDC query. For federal custody, use BOP; for ICE custody, use the ICE locator. Neither is a Dougherty County recent-arrest feed.
- For a warrant question, use the official Warrants/Civil contact described on the Sheriff's Most Wanted and warrant page. Do not approach someone or try to evade an order.
Each path answers a different question. Present custody asks whether the person sits in Dougherty County Jail right now. A booking from last month is a retained-record question. What happened to the charge belongs to the courts. Lean on one portal for all three and you get false certainty.
Where Dougherty County Busted Mugshots Appear
Go to official sources first. Secondary pages can point you to a news item or an old reference. But they can be incomplete, stale, duplicated, or out of date with the final court outcome. The table below keeps things tidy. Current custody, released records, court outcomes, and state or federal custody each sit in their own rows.
| Channel | Photo? | Authority and access |
|---|---|---|
| DCSO inmate catalog | Yes, when present | Official current-custody cards with identity, dates, charges, agencies, bond, and other fields. |
| Separate recent-booking feed | Not verified | No distinct official 24/48-hour or 72-hour/weekly feed was verified. Do not relabel the roster as “today's bookings.” |
| DCSO records request | Requestable when releasable | Official fallback for a released or older county booking. Ask for the existing record and photograph. |
| Dougherty court records | Usually not a booking photo source | Official place to follow charge, plea, dismissal, judgment, sentence, or other disposition. |
| GDC offender query | Photo when available | Official state-custody or supervision profile, not a recent county booking list. |
| BOP and ICE locators | No public photo | Official federal or immigration custody status only. Neither replaces the county roster. |
| Albany Herald | Usually no systematic portrait | Recurring jail reports are secondary text digests with booked charges and Active/Released status. |
| WALB News 10 | Sometimes | Crime stories and Dougherty County coverage are selected event reports, not a complete log. |
| RecentlyBooked | Sometimes | Unofficial Dougherty page; its counts, images, and refresh claims can change. |
| Mugshots.com | Historical coverage | Unofficial archive with material concentrated in older years, not a current roster. |
Busted Newspaper, Arrests.org, and Mugshots.zone offer no confirmed Dougherty County section. A generic Georgia page is not local coverage. Neither is a result that merely name-drops Dougherty. Treat no third-party page as proof that a person is still in custody or that a charge still stands.
Busted and Booked in Dougherty County
The DCSO Police-to-Citizen catalog is the official window into current local custody. A result card can include an official identification image. The catalog promises nothing about how fast data appears, how long a released person stays visible, or how often it refreshes.
Never rely on a name alone. Match the arresting agency, the dates, the age, and physical descriptors. A portrait is not enough to identify someone with certainty. A missing result can mean release, transfer, a correction, a spelling quirk, restriction, or plain lag. For very recent bookings, Jail Intake is the county's published fallback.
Here is the roster interface from the official county-linked source:
Open the DCSO current-inmate catalog before reading the card fields.
The image shows the official search layout, not a booking-photo gallery. The live catalog remains the source of truth for current custody, and it can change at any time.
| Search or result detail | Use it carefully |
|---|---|
| Name criteria | Try exact and simplified spellings, then compare the returned identity fields. |
| Dates | Use arrest and booking dates to judge recency, but do not call the result a 24-hour feed. |
| Agency | Check arresting and booking agency because Albany arrests and county or state-agency arrests can share the jail. |
| Charge and bond | Read them as the current jail record. Bond is a condition or amount, not a fine or final sentence. |
- Open the catalog and enter the available name criteria.
- Run the search, then compare age, descriptors, arrest date, and arresting agency.
- Read charge and bond fields as intake information, not a court result.
- Record the access date and use Jail Intake or the open-records email if the expected card is absent.
No official DCSO inmate app exists. HomeWAV handles visitation and scheduling, not booking photos. SheriffAlerts is a separate sex-offender registry. The county's general social media presence is not a complete booking feed.
Busted Last Night? Dougherty Bookings
Dougherty County publishes no official same-day list. There is no 24/48-hour feed, no 72-hour list, and no weekly DCSO booking feed. The catalog's dates can help you spot a recent card. Still, a date stamp does not turn a current-custody catalog into a bounded arrest log. No official archive of past feed editions exists either.
| Wanted view | Dougherty finding | Best supported path |
|---|---|---|
| Same day or 24-48 hours | No separate official feed verified | Search the current catalog, then call Jail Intake if the question concerns present custody. |
| 72 hours or weekly | No separate official feed verified | Use the recurring Albany Herald digest only as a secondary reading source. |
| Released or older booking | No official public feed archive verified | Request the booking sheet and photo from DCSO. |
| APD daily bulletin | No named-person daily arrest log verified | APD monthly NIBRS reports show aggregate trends, not person-level cards. |
The Albany Herald Public Safety section offers the most useful local multi-day reading experience. Observed reports span roughly a week and can list a name, arresting-agency abbreviation, booked allegations, and Active or Released status. “Released” means not active in that jail snapshot. It does not mean the charge was dismissed. The Herald's recurring pattern is useful context, but it is not a complete official custody feed.
Why is a recent name missing? Intake and data processing may not be complete, the person may have moved to another custody state, or the person may already be released. Check the date, call Jail Intake for a current question, and use a records request for an older booking instead of relying on an aggregator's date label.
Georgia DOC Offender Photos
State custody works differently. The Georgia Department of Corrections Find an Offender tool covers people already sentenced to the state system or under GDC supervision, not everyone arrested in Dougherty County. A profile can show a corrections photo, physical descriptors, status, facility or supervision details, and offense and sentence information where public.
Search by GDC number if you have it. Otherwise use the name fields and biographical filters, then compare results against what you know about the person. GDC displays photos automatically when available and keeps adding images; if a match does not appear, try the first four letters of the surname and select all records. Completed First Offender Act cases are excluded.
Open the official GDC offender query to reach the state search form.
No photo on a public profile? Request one through GDC's open-records route. Use the full name and GDC ID. An initial response should come within three business days. Copies run $0.10 per nonmedical page, plus permitted search or redaction labor. Release still depends on corrections, medical, investigative, and security exemptions.
Busted, Released, or Sentenced
No single web page tells the whole story. The roster only shows who is in Dougherty County Jail custody right now. After release, a booking drops off the roster while the underlying record stays with the custodian under its retention schedule. Later custody stages belong to state and federal systems.
| Custody or case state | Where to look | What the source can establish |
|---|---|---|
| Just booked or held in county jail | DCSO current-inmate catalog; Jail Intake for an extremely recent question | Current listing, image when present, booking or arrest data, charge, agency, bond, and other populated fields. |
| Released from Dougherty Jail | DCSO open-records request | An existing booking sheet and photograph may be obtainable, subject to disclosure limits and retention. |
| Case in court | Dougherty clerk case search or Albany Municipal Court | Docket events, orders, plea, dismissal, judgment, sentence, or other disposition, depending on court and access. |
| Sentenced to GDC | GDC offender query or GDC records request | State custody or supervision profile and a GDC image when available, not the original county intake image by default. |
| Federal custody | BOP locator | Federal inmate location or status where the public locator returns a match. Public results do not provide an inmate photo. |
| ICE custody | ICE Online Detainee Locator | Search with a nine-digit A-number and country of birth, or exact biographical fields. It is not a county arrest log and does not publish a photo. |
When the custody question is federal rather than local, the Bureau of Prisons inmate locator is the right tool. It covers people held in federal facilities across the country.
One boundary is worth knowing. Federal locator results do not include an inmate photograph. A transfer can also make someone vanish from one system before the next catches up. That gap means nothing on its own. Confirm the custody state with the agency that actually maintains it.
Dougherty Court Dispositions
A booking is only the first page of the story. The official Dougherty civil and criminal case search takes it from there. Enter party names surname first, in the format "LAST FIRST," with at least two letters. Filters narrow things by court code, division, filing dates, and case status. Try spelling variants and match the case number and filing date. Then read the actual docket and signed orders instead of a headline or a live jail card.
Court structure matters too. Superior Court alone handles felonies. State Court takes misdemeanors, which the county describes as offenses carrying twelve months or less. Magistrate Court issues warrants and runs early committal proceedings. Albany Municipal Court covers city ordinances, traffic, and certain misdemeanors. The arresting agency and court designation often reveal more than a county label does.
Albany Municipal Court schedules in-custody arraignments at the jail for 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. That is a bridge between booking and court, not a promise any named person appears on the next listed day. Bond, arraignment, disposition, and nolle prosequi are distinct events with distinct meanings.
Charges change. They can be amended, reduced, dismissed, dead-docketed, nolle prossed, tried, or resolved by plea. The docket and signed court documents are what control.

Albany Busted Mugshots and NIBRS
Albany is the county seat. It is also Dougherty County's only incorporated city, home to 69,647 people in the 2020 Census. The Albany Police Department posts monthly NIBRS crime-statistics PDFs along with older annual reports. But there is no daily arrest log with names, no booking feed, and no mugshot roster. NIBRS counts crimes in the aggregate. It shows trends and shifts as cases are worked. Yet it cannot name a booking or hand over a jail photo.
Anyone APD takes into custody ends up at the Dougherty County Jail, so the DCSO catalog is the route for current-custody lookups. Want an APD incident record or a photo that never made it onto a jail card? File a city records request through the Albany JustFOIA portal. Keep the arresting agency in mind too. Albany police, DCSO, county police, Georgia State Patrol, ASU police, and school officers all feed bookings into the same county flow.
For a closer look at the city, visit Albany Busted Mugshots. That page covers APD's records route, where bookings land, local news coverage, and the campus log that leaves out names and photos.
Dougherty Alerts Are Not Mugshots
In 2024, Georgia's Criminal Justice Coordinating Council announced statewide VINE and Appriss custody notifications. Alerts can arrive by phone, online, or mobile app, with multilingual support included. The announcement does not confirm that every Dougherty jail feature works at every moment. VINE is an alert channel, nothing more. It is not a public photo catalog.
Georgia's Victim Information Program is a separate system. It handles post-sentencing notices from the GDC or parole, and you look people up with a case or EF number or a GDC ID. The published line is 1-800-593-9474. It skips the first hours of a county booking and offers no mugshot gallery. The CJCC announcement and the VIP materials each spell out their own distinct purpose.
No official Dougherty Sheriff's app publishing inmate cards or photos has been verified. HomeWAV only handles visitation. Social media posts are selective and can linger after custody ends, so lean on the roster, a records request, or the court docket instead.
Old Dougherty Busted Mugshot Records
What is online and what the law requires a county to keep are two different things. Georgia Archives schedule LG-19-060 gives jail booking records, with their associated data, ten years after release. LG-19-061 gives jail registers ten years after the last entry. Neither schedule names a booking photograph outright. Ask DCSO whether a photo lives inside the booking-record series or under some other schedule. LG-19-054 inmate case files also run ten years past release, but incarceration lists and booking-area video carry different periods.
A restriction or sealing does not quietly shorten retention. The custodian may keep a record while limiting access to it. A portal card can vanish while the booking file stays put. Reaching the minimum retention date does not mean destruction happened on day one of eligibility. And an expired period does not guarantee a file survives either.
For an old booking, start with DCSO. Request the retained sheet and the photo. Then check the clerk's docket for how the case ended. The Georgia Archives local-government schedules explain each series. Contact the Archives itself only if DCSO says a series transferred or a holdings description matches. No Dougherty-specific transferred booking-photo collection has been verified. Review the official retention schedule before assuming anything about archived images.
The schedule itself is a state document. It shows retention rules, not a Dougherty booking photo. Georgia Archives reference staff will take a brief holdings question through Ask an Archivist, though the Archives makes no promise of holding a county's modern jail images.
Historical sources are different animals. Convict registers, GDC files, county jail records, and court case files each describe separate populations. A Central Register of Convicts entry may aid historical research, but it is no recent arrest log. A GDC photograph could postdate a county booking image. A court file can settle an outcome without holding any photograph at all.
Dougherty County Busted Mugshots by City
Dougherty County contains exactly one incorporated municipality. That keeps the city map honest rather than padded with unincorporated communities or census-designated places. Albany's page holds the APD and city records details. The county systems cover the roster, feeds, court path, and released booking requests.
